The Chun Family has made the decision to close Peggy Chun Gallery’s doors on December 11, 2010. We are excited to move on to new adventures, but first we have lots of exciting things planned for our final few weeks in business. We are going out “Peggy-style” – lots of parties, costumes, and fun!
We will be closed this week as we get ready for our final show, a photography exhibit by Evan Rapoport. We will reopen on November 19, Slow Art Friday, for Evan’s opening reception from 5pm to 9pm. We couldn’t think of a more perfect fit for our last show. Evan works for Archinoetics, the company that created the brain wave technology that allowed Peggy to create “Brain Paintings”. Evan worked with Peggy at her bedside for years and as their friendship grew, Peggy encouraged and inspired Evan to pursue his hobby of photography. Evan’s beautiful work will amaze you and his love for Peggy and gratitude for her inspiration will touch your heart. We’ll be sharing more about Evan’s show soon.
Throughout our remaining weeks open, we will also be having amazing closeout sales and specials as we work to sell off all of our merchandise including everything from our storeroom! We have prints, signed prints, posters, signed posters, framed pieces, cookbooks, cards, you name it! If it ain’t nailed down, it has to go! So be sure to come down for this opportunity. Just in time for Christmas!!! While we plan to continue to license Peggy’s artwork, we have no immediate plans to continue printing her work or selling to other galleries, so this is it!
We are so happy that we have had the opportunity to have Peggy Chun Gallery. It has been two years since Peggy left us and having the gallery really helped us process the loss of our beloved Peg. We value the gallery for the gift that it gave us, the way it served as a meeting place for those that loved Peggy and the way it allowed us to continue to share her story with the world. We feel proud that we accomplished one of Peggy’s goals for her and we feel confident that Peggy’s work and inspirational story will continue to live on in our hearts and our homes. We feel Peggy encouraging us to move on to new adventures, for if anyone embraced adventure, excitement, and new opportunities, it was Peggy.
So mark your calendars with the important dates below and come for a visit before we close our doors. We’ll send out more info about each event as they get closer. We are so grateful to all of you for your love and support. Peggy’s artwork and story will live on because of all of you.
